DIA - Design, Image and Architecture Postgraduate Diploma 13/10/2008

3rd Programme: October 2008 to July 2009

In the 21st century there is a need for professionals capable of developing design and architecture projects on all the different possible fronts. The Postgraduate Diploma in Design, Architecture and Image aims to provide a response to this challenge for all those students who wish to focus their careers on the construction sector and the associated disciplines.

In many respects the frontiers between architecture and design have faded as the development of professional projects nowadays in these fields calls for a open, global multidisciplinary approach.

This means that, now, when designers and architects undertake, for example, the design of commercial premises, they also must take into account details such as the changing rooms of the employees, the client's corporate identity and the creation of a user experience.

In this context, the Postgraduate Diploma in Design, Architecture and Image aims to be a course that offers 21st century professionals the interdisciplinary skills, abilities and knowledge needed to be competitive in the market and be capable of providing global solutions for the complexities of present-day design and architectural projects.

DEA - Design, Environment and Architecture Postgraduate Diploma 09/03/2009

4th Programme: March 2009 to February 2010

The modern world has generated a need for designers with a different profile, who use a multidisciplinary approach to execute their professional projects and also possess the skills needed to incorporate environmental criteria.

In effect, modern conceptualists have to incorporate new tendencies related to sustainability into their work, as this is affecting the way design is building the world of the future. In this respect, design must consider the criteria derived from the Kyoto protocol and concepts such as being "orange", ecological and so on.

It is against this backdrop that the Postgraduate Diploma in Design, Environment and Architecture has been conceived. It is aimed at training professionals to know how to apply European and other international directives that refer to the environment, in order to deal with all those problems related to sustainability which design projects have not so far been able to resolve despite the generation of advanced spaces and innovative products.

DIRECTION

IGNASI PÉREZ ARNAL
Founder and director of the architecture agency axe Arquitectura y Entorno. He also helds the Direction of the Department of Sustainability at the Escuela de Arquitectura de Barcelona EsArq_UIC in the International University of Catalonia; and is Senior Visiting Professor at the Facoltà di Architettura di Alghero.
